We made some small changes to the colony, introducing Lodge points and prizes each term for good behavior, listening and participating well. We also introduced our soft toy Beaver named (by the Beavers) Lightening. A child is awarded Lightening each week to take home. The child chosen is the one who has been well behaved and has listened and contributed positively to the group that week. The Beavers have responded very positively to this and as you can see from our display board, there are some lovely photos of Lightening with the Beavers.

As a group we have been extremely busy.  We have been visited by a PATs dog (Pets as Therapy) together with her owner who explained the role of the animals in people’s therapy for either physical or mental illness.

We held a sponsored ‘funny eats’ night in aid of Comic Relief, raising over £130 and getting our picture in the local paper.

We took part in the Carnival procession, braving the rain as Lego Star Wars bricks, as well as enjoying many other activities such as making mini herb gardens for Mothers Day and a bug hunt round the park seeing the wildlife right under our feet.

On Saturday 13
th June ten Beavers attended Bazaaz, a County wide fun day for Beavers which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

We are a very strong colony at present and are currently at capacity.  We are holding a waiting list and already have Beavers waiting to join in September, when 4 of our Beavers will leave for Cubs.

In summary it has been a challenging but enjoyable year, the Beavers are enjoying themselves and look forward to the colony go from strength to strength.
